How Many Questions on the G1 Test? Everything About the Ontario G1 Exam

The Ontario G1 knowledge test is the first step to getting your driver's licence in Ontario. Here's exactly what to expect.

Number of Questions

The G1 test has 40 questions divided into two equal sections:

- Part 1 — Rules of the Road: 20 questions on traffic laws, right-of-way, speed limits, impaired driving, and parking rules - Part 2 — Traffic Signs: 20 questions on road sign meanings, shapes, colours, and required responses

You must pass both sections separately.

Passing Score

You need to answer at least 16 out of 20 questions correctly in each section to pass. That's 80% per section. Getting 18/20 on one section and 15/20 on the other means you fail — even if your total is above 80%.
